What Is AWANA ?

“AWANA” is a christian youth work which aims to reach children and young with the message of the Gospel of Christ. The name “AWANA” stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”. this motto is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 where Paul exhorted Timothy “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.

Each meeting is preceded by the singing of the national and AWANA anthems. The meeting has three parts; games time, study time and counsel time. For the games and study time the children are divided into four teams where they can win points for the team and earn individual prizes.

The counsel time is at the end of the meeting and during this period one of the leaders will bring a Bible lesson or Bible related quiz to the children. The children are encouraged to seek the Lord Jesus Christ to be their personal Saviour during this time.

The bible clubs are open to all children who live in the Port Lincoln area and all children are warmly welcomed.
